Specialist In Dementia Care

Helping someone cope with dementia requires a special level of care; that's why we require all caregivers on staff to take specialized dementia care training. At Morning Dove, its not enough for caregivers to say they've worked in the field of dementia before or understand what its like taking care of someone with a memory loss condition. We simply require more than that. Specialized training is mandatory for us and we have to know for sure that everyone under our umbrella of care is properly trained to care for the residents we serve.

While maintaining independence and control, your loved one will still have the comfort and support of a full service residential dementia care home and will find that life in our community is stress free, interesting, engaging and enjoyable.

We also allow residents to help out if they'd like with light chores to keep motor functioning skills active although its not mandatory or a requirement. Residents will always have a choice and can choose to help or relax at will.

 A Social Community

Our common area is a small, intimate family seating area that can easily accommodate family and friends. It has a large television, cordless phone, ceiling fan, central heating and air, activity center, snack bar, security cameras and alarms on exit windows and doors for added safety and security.

Our dining area has seating for 4 residents and 2 staff at a conveniently sized table with a table setting centerpiece equipped with napkins, forks, spoons and coffee stirrers.

Our bathroom is cozy and private with an easy step in tub and toilet designed for easy showering, sitting and standing.

The overall design of the Morning Dove community is socially engaging. It's intimate enough for residents to spark conversations amongst each other while eating, engaging in activities or watching their favorite TV shows. Residents love the environment and is always eager to help each other in a friendly, cheerful way.

  Activities & Entertainment

Your loved one will engage in creative activities that are meaningful; bring joy, excitement, happiness and an independent lifestyle.

Activities are designed on individual needs, wishes and interests and can be done one-on-one or in a group setting. All activities are therapeutic to help with motor skills and physical functioning.

As part of entertainment, we encourage longer life through songs, classic movies, classic cartoons, TV shows, themed meals and games. We also visit carnivals and towns that are tourist and elderly friendly.

Family Involvement

When placing your loved one in any place other than home, its easy to feel like you're abandoning your responsibilities or letting the one you love down. Sometimes it even seems like you will not be able to see them very often.

In our program, we encourage family involvement to ensure residential success. The last thing we want to do is move someone into our community and have to move them out in the first month due to lack of family involvement. Family visits are therapeutic and reassuring when your loved one starts to feel alone.

We encourage you to come visit as much as you can and take your loved one out for day/over night trips and family time if possible. You're even welcome to join us for trips and activities.

Many residents like to go out to visit their family for the weekend or on special occasions and that is perfectly o.k. The decision is entirely up to your loved one. We're here to work with families on whatever it is that's in the best interest of the resident to keep them happy.
